TARIFFS: All rates listed are in NZ dollars and inclusive of GST @ 15%.
CHECK IN-OUT: Check in is between 2pm – 7:30pm on the day of arrival.
We understand that sometimes guests may arrive outside of our regular check-in hours due to travel delays, traffic, or other unforeseen circumstances. Therefore, we welcome after-hours arrivals and are willing to make special arrangements to accommodate guests who may arrive later than expected.
To arrange for an early or after-hours check-in, guests are required to contact our motel in advance, so that we can make the necessary preparations to ensure that their arrival goes as smoothly as possible. This can be done by phone or email, and we will be happy to provide detailed instructions on how to proceed.
We understand that guests may have reasonable requests regarding their arrival, such as a request for a specific room type or location. Our motel will do our best to accommodate such requests, within reason and subject to availability.
At our motel, we strive to provide excellent customer service and ensure that our guests have a comfortable and stress-free stay. Therefore, we are happy to offer after-hours arrivals as part of our commitment to meeting the needs of our guests.

Cancellations & Changes
Default Policy:
All bookings are considered non-refundable by default unless agreed otherwise in writing through us.
Changes to Reservation: For all bookings extending the reservation term is treated as a new booking and is subject to availability. Reducing the length of stay will be treated as a cancellation, subject to our standard cancellation policy.

Group Bookings and Cancellations:
Definition of a Group Booking
At The Furlong Motel, we define a group booking as follows:
Number of Individuals: A group booking must consist of reservations for a minimum of four individual guests. Each guest must be accommodated in a separate room.
Guest Nights: The cumulative total of all nights stayed by the group must exceed 10 guest nights. For example, a reservation for four guests, each staying for three nights, would total 12 guest nights. Therefore, this would meet the criteria set for a group booking.
Policy Implications
This definition is integral to our approach in managing and facilitating group bookings. It helps us differentiate between standard reservations and group bookings, allowing us to offer:
Customized Rates: Group bookings may be eligible for special rates that are not applicable to standard reservations.
Tailored Terms and Conditions: Recognizing the unique needs of group travel, The Furlong Motel provides specific terms and conditions that cater to group bookings. This includes but is not limited to deposit requirements, cancellation policies, and payment procedures.
Dedicated Services: We understand that group bookings often require additional coordination and services. As such, The Furlong Motel is prepared to offer dedicated check-in services, group-oriented amenities, and assistance in organizing local transport and events if needed.
Reservation Management
Advance Arrangements: We encourage group coordinators to engage with our reservations team well in advance of their stay to ensure that all aspects of the booking are managed seamlessly.
By formalizing our definition of a group booking, The Furlong Motel ensures that group travelers receive the attention and service excellence that they require, while also enabling efficient and precise allocation of our accommodation resources.
Special cancellation terms and conditions apply to group bookings. The rates displayed on this website do not apply to group bookings. Please contact motel management for group booking rates. Our general group booking terms are conditions are outlined below :-
Group Reservation and Deposit
To reserve a block of rooms, a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total booking cost is required.
This deposit secures the booking and will be credited towards the final bill.
Group Bookings Payment Schedule
An additional 40% of the booking cost is due 45 days prior to the scheduled arrival date.
The remaining balance (40%) is due 30 days before the scheduled arrival date.
Group Bookings Cancellation Fee Structure
If the group needs to cancel, the following structure applies:
Cancellations made 61 days or more before the scheduled arrival date will result in the loss of the 20% deposit.
Cancellations made between 60 to 31 days before the scheduled arrival date will result in a loss of 50% of the total booking cost.
Cancellations made 30 days or less before the scheduled arrival date, or in case of a no-show, will result in a charge of 100% of the total booking cost.
Group Bookings Rebooking Flexibility
If a group cancels 60 days or more before the arrival date, they may choose to apply the already paid deposit towards a new booking within 12 months, subject to availability.
In the event of rebooking, if the new booking exceeds the original booking cost, the group will be responsible for paying the difference. If the new booking is less expensive, the balance will remain as a credit for additional services during their stay.
Changes to Group Reservation
Any changes to the number of rooms or dates of the booking are subject to availability and must be requested at least 45 days prior to the initial arrival date. Such changes may result in a revised rate or additional fees.
Special Considerations
We understand that sometimes unforeseen circumstances can affect travel plans. In exceptional cases, such as natural disasters or other serious events beyond the group’s control, we may offer greater flexibility at our discretion.
Acknowledgment
By confirming a group reservation, the group representative acknowledges and agrees to these terms on behalf of all group members.

Damage Deposit & Responsibility for Damages/Theft
-
Definition of “The Guest”: For the purposes of this policy, “the guest” refers to the individual(s) staying at the motel, regardless of whether the reservation was made directly by the guest or by a third party (such as a company, employer, or travel agent). In cases where a booking is made by a third party on behalf of the guest, both the guest and the booking party (company, travel agent, or other entity) will be held jointly and severally responsible for any damages, theft, or outstanding charges incurred during the stay.
-
Refundable Bond: A refundable damage deposit may be required for larger bookings, guests traveling with pets, or under specific circumstances at the discretion of motel management. The amount of the bond will vary depending on the booking size or risk for potential damages (e.g., group bookings, pet accommodations, extended stays).
-
Conditions for Refund: The damage deposit will be fully refunded after check-out, provided no damage, theft, or excessive cleaning is required following a room inspection. If damages or theft are discovered, part or all of the deposit may be retained to cover the costs.
-
Responsibility for Damages/Theft:
- If the cost of damages or theft exceeds the amount of the deposit, the guest will be fully responsible for the remaining balance. This additional cost will be charged to the credit card provided at the time of booking or through invoicing if arranged otherwise.
- In cases where the booking was made by a third party (such as a company or travel agent), both the guest and the third party will be held jointly liable for any costs associated with damage or theft. Should the third party be invoiced for such costs, they are obligated to ensure full payment within the specified time frame.
- The guest is responsible for all damages, theft, and loss of motel property, whether caused intentionally or accidentally, including but not limited to missing items, broken furniture, damaged electronics, and stained bedding or carpets.
-
Full Compliance: By checking in, the guest acknowledges that they have read, understood, and accepted all of the motel’s terms and conditions, including this damage and theft policy. Additionally, third parties making bookings on behalf of guests agree to assume responsibility for any damages or theft caused by the guest. Failure to settle any outstanding costs will result in further action, including debt recovery procedures, with the guest and/or the third-party booking entity being liable for any additional collection fees incurred.
-
Notification of Charges: If deductions are made from the bond or additional charges apply, the guest or booking party will be notified, and any remaining balance (if applicable) will be refunded within 7 working days.
-
Applicable Scenarios: This bond and damage/theft policy is mandatory in situations such as:
- Group bookings.
- Pet-friendly accommodations.
- Third-party bookings (e.g., made by companies or travel agents).
- Special cases deemed necessary by management.
Theft of Motel Property
- Liability: The guest is fully responsible for any theft of motel property during their stay, whether the booking was made directly or via a third party. Any stolen items will be billed to the guest, and if the theft exceeds the deposit amount, the guest (or the third party) will be invoiced for the remaining amount. Non-payment of theft-related costs will result in legal action and additional fees for debt recovery.
